The principles Harris County Republicans stand on, and the platform our delegates adopted.

Preamble

2026 Republican Party of Texas Platform

Affirming our belief in God, we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Throughout the world, people dare to dream of freedom and opportunity. The Republican Party of Texas unequivocally defends that dream. We strive to preserve the freedom given to us by God, established by our Founding Fathers, and embodied in the United States Constitution. We recognize that human nature is immutable. We further recognize that the traditional family is the strength of our nation. It is our solemn duty to protect innocent life and cultivate responsible citizens. We understand that our economic success depends on free-market principles. We also recognize that, should we fail to maintain our sovereignty, we risk losing the freedom to live according to these ideals.

What We Believe

The Ten Principles

We, the 2026 Republican Party of Texas, believe in this platform and expect our elected leaders to uphold these truths through acknowledgment and action. We believe in:

“The laws of nature and nature’s God,” and we recognize the historic and continuing influence of Christianity in securing our rights and liberties as endowed by our Creator. We support the strict adherence to the original language and intent of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas.

The sanctity of innocent human life, created in the image of God, which should be equally protected from fertilization to natural death.

Preserving individual, Texan, and American sovereignty and freedom.

Limiting government power to those items enumerated in the United States and Texas Constitutions.

The concept that all liberties, freedoms, and rights require personal responsibility and accountability.

Self-sufficient families, founded on the traditional marriage of one natural man and one natural woman.

Parents having the complete freedom of choice for the education of their children, and where and by whom they acquire the general diffusion of knowledge.

The right of all people to defend themselves and their property is inalienable.

A free-enterprise society, is to be unencumbered by government interference, and that economic liberty and private property rights shall not be suspended, even during declared emergencies, disasters, public health crises, the State of the Union address, or societal circumstances.

The honoring of all those who serve and protect, or who have served and protected our freedom.

Precinct conventions send delegates to senate district conventions, which send delegates to the state convention where the platform is debated and adopted. It starts in your precinct.

Platform Questions

The platform is the statement of principles and positions adopted by delegates at the Republican Party of Texas biennial state convention. The current version is the 2026 Republican Party of Texas Platform, approved in June 2026.

HCRP stands on the platform adopted by the Republican Party of Texas. Separately, the HCRP Executive Committee adopts its own resolutions on county matters, which are published on the EC Resolutions page.

Precinct conventions send delegates to senate district conventions, which send delegates to the state convention. Delegates debate and vote on the platform there, which is one of the most direct ways a Harris County Republican can shape party policy.
