Voting Questions, Answered
Check your voter registration status through the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector at hctax.net. If you have moved, changed your name, or have not voted in several elections, confirm your record before Election Day.
Texas requires an approved form of photo identification to vote in person. The Texas Secretary of State publishes the current list of accepted photo IDs and the alternatives available to voters who do not have one.
Harris County uses countywide vote centers, so registered Harris County voters may cast a ballot at any open location during early voting and on Election Day. Current locations are published by the Harris County Clerk at harrisvotes.com.
Voting by mail in Texas is limited to voters who meet specific eligibility requirements, including being 65 or older, being sick or disabled, being out of the county during the voting period, or being confined in jail but otherwise eligible. Applications and deadlines are handled by the Harris County Clerk.
